Funding Sources
A wide variety of sources provide support for forest
canopy research. In this database, you'll find foundations, agencies, and
institutions who have funded (or propose to fund) forest canopy research.
The Bullitt Foundation

The Bullitt Foundation is committed
to the protection and restoration of the environment of the Pacific
Northwest. This commitment includes environmental problems that
disproportionately impact lower-economic people in both urban and
rural communities. The Foundation invites proposals from nonprofit
organizations that serve Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia,
western Montana (including the Rocky Mountain Range), and the rain
forest region of southern Alaska. The majority of grantees are citizen
groups located in the Northwest that are working to build and strengthen
the environmental movement and to educate the broader public about
the importance of protecting and restoring the environment.
International Society of Arboriculture Research Trust

The ISA Research Trust was established
in 1976 to provide a reservoir of money from which important research
could be funded. Administered by the Executive Director of the ISA
and overseen by a 15 member Board of Trustees, the mission of the
Research Trust is to "identify significant environmental, biological,
social and economic needs of arboriculture and urban forestry, including
tree genetics, management, and care; and provide funding for innovative
basic/applied research and education projects.
